Ufficiale: Mercedes-Benz S600

The latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz S Class has impressed us at every turn, from the 2014 S550 to the 2014 S63 AMG. Next week, the V-12-powered S600 will join the range, and we expect just as much in the way of luxury, style, and competence from it, too. For those who just can't take the wait, however, the web has done you a favor, leaking an image of the exterior, one of the interior, and a list of specs. As you'd expect, the S600 looks rather like the other new S Classes you've seen before, aside from the AMG models. But it's packing that 6.0-liter V-12 engine.
And that V-12 engine is rated at 390 kW, according to the leaked info at German Car Forum, which works out to 530 metric horsepower, as shown in the spec sheet--or, for us Americans, 523 horsepower. Mercedes is likely to massage that figure into something rounder and comelier, but so far, that's what we have to work with. Backing up the solid horsepower figure is a satisfying 612 pound-feet of twist--or 830 Newton-meters, for those into SI measurements.
Gear shifts will be handled by the 7G-Tronic Plus seven-speed automatic, and for North American consumption, should come standard with 4Matic all-wheel drive. If you're after Mercedes' most powerful V-12 S Class, you'll want to check out the 2015 S65 AMG.
