Hi Mert, I saw the supercharged Zeddy (3.0i) on the z4um website.... What can I say? I think that this is a good example of a very hard tuning, but I've some questions.... for example, the 2.2i Zeddy, supercharged to 270hp , would be ready for the huge increase of power? In other words, apart the engine, the brakes, the whole structure and other mechanical part would survive after some kilometers? In my opinion, I think that these mods are great for showing what we can do, but are not so useful for everyday life of our cars. This is only my two cents.... Best regards and my congratulations for the superb mechanical and engineering work in supercharging the bmw straight six.
Diabolik, The power increase is not huge. Automatic transmission equipped BMWs are running at 0.3 bar of boost pressure and this does not stress the system. There are other tuners like ASA Infinitas whose kits and cars survive after 50.000 km. We have designed the system so that the complete car has no problems, can be driven every day. Moroever we have included extras which other tuners do not offer. Brakes are the weakest point: BMW uses low quality brake components and even the standard cars' brakes suffer under hard driving. Mert
Mert, your words confirm my doubts.... The engine and transmission will survive at a so hard tuning, but other components will suffer. Brakes are the weakest point; so for a safer work a new braking system would be greatly recommended.... The money for the whole tuning (engine, new brake system and so on) will be not so cheap... The money back, at the selling time, will be very low, if the car would be alive. And after all, 50000km are a low mileage.... VERY LOW mileage. I don't like very much these so hard mods. At this point, I'd go for other cars...
This is not a heavy modification. People in USA and Germany supercharge and turbocharge bmws and drive for years. For so little money so much power and reliable. If you ever drive a turbocharged BMW you will understand what we are talking about
Well fly here for a weekend test the Z4 and see what we are talking about. The flight takes 1 hour. Mert
