E' di oggi la notizia data da Autoblog: "l’edizione 2009 del celebre premio International Engine of the Year è stata un tripudio per i tedeschi ed un bagno di sangue per tutti gli altri. Su 12 premi disponibili, ben 11 sono andati a case teutoniche. Il vincitore assoluto è stato il 1.4 TSI di Volkswagen, ma nelle singole categorie sono state Mercedes e BMW a sbaragliare la concorrenza. Il piccolo sovralimentato di Wolfsburg, oltre ad essersi aggiudicato il premio assoluto, ha vinto anche nella categoria “Green Engine”, battendo i nuovi ibridi di Honda e Toyota. Terzo riconoscimento è arrivato nella categoria “1.0-1.4 litri”. Come dicevamo in apertura, la giuria, composta da 65 giornalisti di 32 paesi, ha consegnato 11 premi su 12 a case tedesche, tra cui per esempio Porsche, che ha vinto con il suo 3.8 boxer a iniezione diretta il premio nella categoria “Best New Engine”. Ben più soddisfatte se ne tornano a casa Mercedes e BMW, con tre premi a testa. La prima, con il suo superbo 6.2 V8, si è affermata nelle categorie “Best Performance Engine” e “oltre 4.0 litri”, ed ha vinto meritatamente anche nella categoria “2.0-2.5 litri” con il nuovo 2.1 CDI da 204 CV e 500 Nm. La seconda invece, dividendo il premio con Peugeot-Citroën, ha messo il proprio sigillo sulla categoria “1.4-1.8 litri” grazie al 1.6 turbo realizzato con i francesi, ed ha vinto anche le categorie “2.5-3.0 litri” grazie al 3.0 biturbo sei cilindri in linea e “3.0-4.0 litri” grazie al 4.0 V8 dell’M3. Tra gli altri infine, vanno ricordati il premio vinto da Toyota per la categoria “meno di 1.0 litri” con il suo 1.0 tre cilindri, e quello portato a casa da Audi per il 2.0 TFSI nella categoria “1.8-2.0 litri” ". U.N.'s Ban invited to visit Myanmar in July - diplomats UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Myanmar's ruling military junta has invited U.N.
